Diabetes mellitus (DM), commonly known as diabetes, is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by a high blood sugar level over a prolonged period of time.Diabetes is due to either the pancreas not producing enough insulin, or the cells of the body not responding properly to the insulin produced.Symptoms often include frequent urination, increased thirst, and increased appetite.

Prevention and treatment involve maintaining a healthy diet, regular physical exercise, a normal body weight, and avoiding use of tobacco.Control of blood pressure and maintaining proper foot and eye care are important for people with the disease

Some natural ways by which we can treat diabetes at home:

Lemon : Drinking squeezed lemon in water when thirst is high is beneficial in diabetes.

Amla(Indian Gooseberry) : Drinking honey mixed with fresh amla juice may help keep blood sugar at a steady level.

Bitter Gourd : (1) Drink Bitter gourd juice 15g mixed with, 100g hot water thrice daily for about 3 months. (2) Boil 250g bitter gourd in half litre water,drink the water when boiled.

Chickpeas : Soak 50g of black chickpeas in milk at night and eat in the morning. Take equal amounts of chickpeas and jowar, grind it to flour,eat roti made of this flour every morning and evening.

Turnip : Diabetic patient should eat curry of turnip more frequently.

Carrot : Drink 310g of carrot juice mixed with 185g spinach(paalak) juice.

Tomato : Tomato is very beneficial for diabetes. Sugar in urine gradually decreases.
